Our experienced music instructors come from a diverse range of musical backgrounds and genres, including classical, jazz, pop, rock, folk and more. Some of our instructors are university and school educators, and others are performers and touring musicians. This is to say, no matter what musical path you’re following, we have the teacher to guide you!
The owner and director of Tustin Music Center since 2009, Dr. Charles Kim is a musician, entrepreneur, tennis player, professor, and pastor with decades of experience educationg Orange County musicians and theology students.
Simon is an Australian musician educated at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, majoring in jazz trumpet and vocal performance. He has extensive experience performing with small and large ensembles at festivals, clubs, functions, and onboard the world’s largest cruise ships.
Olivia has been an in-demand piano and vocal teacher at Tustin Music since 2012, and has fostered the talent of hundreds of young musicians. She has training from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, Aida Academy in Austria, and the Mozarteum Summer School.
Margaret Wu has her BA from University of California in Los Angeles and attended Orange County High School of the Arts. As a musician and educator, she shares her love of music passed on to her from her own teachers and mentors.
Kara has been teaching woodwind instruments at Tustin Music since 2021. She brings a wealth of experience both in one-on-one instruction and group/school music teaching. Kara is our resident woodwind teacher, serving our clarinet, saxophone and flute students.
Emmy is currently studying at Cal State Fullerton pursuing a degree in instrumental music education. She’s been teaching violin for over 6 years and specializes in instructing beginning and intermediate students.
Currently studying music education at Cal State Fullerton, Mali is a guitar and beginner piano teacher with a specialty in jazz guitar. With over 13 years of experience playing guitar, he loves teaching students to enjoy music as much as he does.
Ted Kelliher has been playing drums for nearly 30 years and has almost 15 years of teaching experience. He currently plays in an up and coming metal band and does session work in multiple genres.
Kyle Bague is our resident viola specialist, though he also teaches violin and piano. He currently performs with and conducts multiple adult and youth orchestras throughout the Orange County area.
Dr. Hin Woo is an experienced music instructor with many years of university teaching and orchestral performance under his belt. He currently serves as the First Chair for the Dana Point Symphony, and teaches at Fullerton Collage.
April has been practicing her craft is music from a young age, graduated from the Orange County School of the Arts in 2015, got accepted into the Berklee School of Music in Boston, and teaches at TMC with a strong focus in music theory and creative exploration.
Leon Salazar is a classically trained musician with extensive knowledge and experience in classical and jazz styles. His primary focus is piano and voice, but he also plays guitar and bass with various groups that play pop and singer song writer style music.
Nolan Yoshimoto is a 4th year student at UC Irvine double majoring in music and business. He’s been playing piano and finger style ukulele for around 10 years, and also enjoys teaching music theory and production.
Lawrence Maddela started playing the piano at the age of 7 and was the pianist of his Church throughout high school. The classically trained pianist obtained his teaching certification from the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM). In addition to piano, Lawrence enjoys recording hip-hop/rap music and songwriting on his spare time.
Sophia Park is a master classical pianist and vocalist with over 20 years of teaching experience. She has a Bachelor of Music and a Teaching Certificate from Sun-Hwa Arts School and Yonsei University in Seoul Korea, and earned her Master’s Degree & Performance Diploma in Music at Indiana University. Sophia currently a member of the Pacific Chorale and lead singer in the Hosanna Choir of Dongshin Church.
Alex is a multi-instrumental teacher focusing on drums, piano, voice and guitar. He has extensive experience working with young children to develop their musicianship, giving them the fundamental knowledge necessary to learn and love music for the rest of their lives.
Peter is a dynamic and engaging drum teacher with a wealth of experience in the music industry, playing for some of the most iconic artists and bands of all time, including American singer Chaka Khan. Peter’s strength is in helping his students to develop the necessary musicianship that will help them to play with bands and artists as they develop their careers.
Kayuri Naito began learning piano at the age of 7 in her home country of Japan. While studying architecture at university in Japan, she became interested in singing and decided to learn music in Los Angeles. She enrolled at the Musicians Institute in 2008 where she hwas inspired by a variety of genres, especially R&B, Blues, and Pop. Now, she’s passionate about helping young pianists reach their full musical potential.
